So, the dining table’s full today, everybody’s home. Farah is taking her weekend off from her campus, and so does Fatin from her boarding school, fetched ‘em both from school myself earlier today, a routine that once was daily back when Fatin was still in All Saints.
Passed by my old school just few days ago, went to get the famous Soto Jawa at one of the restaurants in front of the school for sungkai. No picture of the soto though hehe.
So yeah, I have renewed my driving license and extended its validity for another three years; did it myself for the first time this time for a cousin of mine used to do it for me in the previous years. The fact that the whole process took only about 5 minutes truly amazes me, for almost always it’d take up to three days just to APPLY for a student visa back there in Egypt, wait for another month for the whole thing to settle with the local police and stuff, then you’d get your passport back (every year).
And yes tragically there’s only ONE guy there at the counter who’s responsible for taking in your application for the whole local immigration services, the same one since the first year I was there, that annoying bored face, and naturally it'll be up to him whether to take in the applications or not, no? And sadly the rule is we do HAVE to go there, and nowhere else.
This fact does not apply to the immigration services only, every official matter you’d like to settle like school stuff or banks, you’d have to go through such hassle that’s greatly troublesome which never improve with time and technology. Even their airport should be ashamed! And so since this license renewal thingy is also some official stuff, I’ve associated it with the visa story, which might still be confusing for you...
So anyways! I’ve heard that the immigration service here have this policy/promise that we’d have our passport back in an hour upon request of renewal and you may have no idea how thrilling that sounds to me. Will be renewing my passport too in a month or two, and I’m excited to see how good this promise is!
And now finally back to the top story, papa managed to join us for sungkai all together too, despite his trip to KL early this morning for a 10am meeting and managed to get a 2pm flight back to KK just so that he could arrive home by 5 instead of the earlier booked 8pm, and rushed home. I can only imagine how exhausted he is. Or maybe not… he watched some game on TV; maybe it’s the badminton, or was there any tennis match (?), instead of falling right asleep by nine, he’s a fit man, hehe.
One of my favorite picture of Paan & Farah in our recent trip to KL. Hehe love 'em both!
